Belly Dancing Bio

Deniz has studied oriental dance for the past 18 years and has a background in ballet and modern dance, as well. Her main fields of expertise within oriental dance are Turkish, Lebanese and Egyptian. She is also versed in some folk dance styles from those countries.

For the past six years, Deniz has taught Oriental dance at Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio. Her skills extend to choreography, and she has been featured in many Sinclair Dance Department concerts, as well as productions by the Quagmire Dance Company, also based in Dayton. Her latest appointment is to the Artistic Director position for Sandstorm Productions, an oriental dance company. Sandstorm Productions has repeatedly presented sold-out shows at Dayton's Schuster Performance Center for the Arts. Teaching experience includes specialty dance workshops throughout the United States.

As performing is the key to understanding an art fully, Deniz has performed for Turkish, Greek and Arabic audiences throughout the United States, in dinner theaters as well as private ethnic functions like festivals, weddings and other celebrations. She has performed as a guest for Colleges including Calvin College in Grand Rapids MI, The University of Dayton, Antioch College in Yellow Springs OH and Wright State University in Fairborn OH. Recently, Deniz was invited to be the feature entertainer at a private function in Istanbul, Turkey.
